spelled correctly. I'm interested in doing this in a room or two. Has anyone ever done it. Is it hard? What kind of decor goes well with wainscotting.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or tips.

I would assume, and I could be wrong, that it wouldn't be that hard. Don't they sell big pieces of it and you'd just put it up with a nail gun and maybe a miter saw to cut it, just like with moulding? I could be way off.
I would think it would go best with a country or traditional or cottage type look. I would say it wouldn't go with anything earthy/global, or modern. JMO.

It's time consuming, but I love the look of it. They only hint I can give you is, to make sure whatever you cut it with, it needs to be very sharp. Wainscoting can splinter up if it's not cut sharply. Also, make sure your measurements are very percise.
My favorite sites that I use for tips are...
www.hgtv.com and www.bhg.com
Have fun!

Is wainscoting that half and half wall with trim in the middle? If it is, I once did a style similar to it, only with half brick and half wall, didn't use trim. It turned out pretty well for a first do-it-yourself project and added a bit of country flavor to my otherwise boring kitchen.

We have wainscoting in several rooms in our house. I really like it. Matter of fact, I insisted the LR and DR have it! DH did it and I wasn't around when he did so I can't really be of help Ours is stained wood. I like rooms that have it done in white as well.

I think the white wainscotting is so cute. I especially like it with blue, yellor or sage green, particularly, as sublime said, in a cottage setting. Looks nice in a bathroom or bedroom.
